TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress to End Cruel and Dangerous Mink Fur Farming — Before It’s Too Late

Dear Congressional Leaders:

As your constituent, I am urging you to take immediate action to shut down mink fur farms in the United States by supporting the Mink VIRUS Act (H.R. 2185).
Mink farming is not only inhumane — it is a clear and growing threat to public health.

Thousands of mink are crammed into filthy, overcrowded cages on fur farms, where stress, neglect, and unsanitary conditions create the perfect storm for zoonotic disease outbreaks. These operations already have contributed to the spread of COVID-19, and experts now warn that avian flu (H5N1) — which has begun infecting mammals — could be next.

We cannot afford to wait for the next pandemic to take action.

Beyond the risk to human health, the cruelty is horrifying. Minks on fur farms endure a lifetime of suffering, unable to engage in natural behaviors. Many are severely impacted by the stress — mutilating themselves or killing their young. At the end of their short, harsh lives, they often are gassed to death, and some are even skinned alive.

The Mink VIRUS Act offers a responsible, humane path forward — phasing out mink farming and supporting workers as they transition out of this dying industry.
Please act urgently to protect animals, communities, and public health by supporting this critical legislation. The time to shut down mink farms is now.

Thank you for your leadership and your commitment to public safety and animal welfare.
