Tell Craigslist to Ban All Animal Sales!
Craigslist has officially banned the sale of companion animals — however, animal transactions are still happening on the site under the guise of “rehoming.” This loophole does nothing to protect animals from exploitation, mistreatment, and abuse.
The simplest and most ethical solution is for Craigslist to ban ALL types of animal transfer posts. Sign the petition below and demand that Craigslist ban the sale of all living beings!
To whom this may concern:
I am writing to urge Craigslist to ban the posting of all animals on your platform immediately.
While it is true that Craigslist has prohibited the explicit sale of animals, bad actors are taking advantage of Craigslist’s “rehoming” loophole. Craigslist is being used for unethical, illegal, and sometimes cruel purposes: Puppy mills selling unhealthy animals to unsuspecting buyers, and online animal-sale scams charging buyers for animals that do not exist are becoming a growing problem.
Animals are living, feeling beings who should be treated accordingly, not sold online like a used couch or television. In order to truly protect animals and consumers, please ban the posting and transfer of all animals on Craigslist. Thank you for your consideration.
