Protecting Wyoming’s Wildlife from Cruelty

Cody Roberts of Daniel, Wyoming, disabled a wolf after running into it with a snowmobile. He then duct taped the wolf’s mouth shut and proceeded to parade the animal around his home where he took a gleeful photo of himself beside the suffering animal. Roberts then showed off the wounded wolf at a local bar before finally killing his trophy.

Wyoming state law allows wolves to be killed with very few restrictions in the “predator zones.” And, the state’s animal cruelty protections are severely limited when it comes to protecting “predatory” animals, like wolves. Due to limitations in the law, Roberts was only charged with the misdemeanor crime of wildlife possession which resulted in a $250 fine.

But what Robert’s did was inhumane and wrong — and the consequences should reflect that.

Let’s Make Cruelty a Crime in Wyoming!

Take action for animals by signing your name to the petition below demanding Wyoming update their animal cruelty laws to better protect wildlife.

By signing this petition, I state my opposition to Wyoming’s disregard to the cruel, inhumane treatment of wolf populations and all wildlife as it relates to criminal animal cruelty. The state implicitly condones the cruel and inhumane mistreatment of wildlife by imposing no legal penalty for egregious pain and suffering inflicted on wildlife in Wyoming’s “predator zones.”

As an animal lover and advocate, I call on the state of Wyoming to pass legislation that extends animal cruelty protections for wildlife and criminalizes hunting practices that cause excessive pain and suffering.
